  Incredibly rude and insensitive staff. But you are Catholic and have to bury them someplace right? Do not ask about conditions of graves or why they are half filled in unless you want abuse piled on top of pain of loss. The reason was 'settling'...it apparently takes months to get another scoop of soil to put up the 4 or 5 two foot deep uncovered graves. Other cemeteries remove sod and replace, but apparently you have to be Protestant for that level of care. Do not ask for clarifications of the rules regarding leaving flowers and other things at the cemetery, you will be directed to an ambiguous sign that doesn't cover every instance given the exceptions they must grant for friends or maybe donors. They will remind you that they GAVE you a one page handout when you buried your dead. So laminate it and do not lose it. But even when presented with a reasonable, if not acceptable answer, the sarcasm and abuse starts at 'Hello' so just be prepared for it. You'll wish you chose cremation and scattered ashes into the wind instead.

  My daughters grave is well kept. I heard it has a new staff there now... The people who worked there when my daughter passed away were very kind to me. Not rude at all. They sat and explained things to me. They took their time when I was deciding which plot I wanted. They never rushed me.

  Interesting place to walk. The cemetery is split by the highway but both halves are accessable by Ohio Street. It's got a large mausoleum on top of a tall steep hill that looks like something out of a Gothic style movie. The front gate has lion heads on them and there are plenty old graves dating way back giving it a very historic feel. From the road it looks like a small cemetery however it goes a lot further back. On the far back side is a small wooded area just before the Kedusgeak river. If you are in the park on Valley Ave and walking the path on the other side of the river (accessable via Harlow street which connects to Valley Ave) you can see the cemetery peaking through the woods. I was standing in the cemetery a few Octobers ago when a huge flock of crows flew over the mausoleum and over the cemetery, it was a very picturesque scene. It's not a huge cemetery but it's an interesting place to take a walk on a sunny day. Some people don't like the highway cutting through the middle but I feel it gives it a unique feeling as the hillside from the valley stream, to the highway, to the cemetery is 3 teared (as tall as a 8 to 10 story building in height). Trivia: The cemetery used to be 1 whole piece however lots of graves where moved when the highway was built. A very tall bridge was built over the kendugeag stream that leads to the side of the valley were the highway spits the cemetery. The two halves are set up even higher on hills and yet another bridge connects one side of Ohio street to the other. If you are standing on the Ohio St. overpass looking between the two halves of the cemetery you can see the long curved bridge that passes over the kenusgeak Stream and yet another road that runs under that tall bridge. If you are scared of heights this may not be a place for you to stand (on the Ohio St overpass), but it will give you a since of the almost hidden and often overlooked sense of shear heights of that area. 1st the Velley Ave road running on the far side of the stream under the tall curved highway bridge that passes over both Valley Ave & Kendusgeak stream, to an even higher spot atop the Ohio St. overpass. If you were to stand near the mausoleum you will also notice a very steep tall hillside that places you up higher still. However most the wooded area blocks the view, however during the late fall early winter when the leaves are off the trees, standing next to the mausoleum and looking just right through the trees gives you a real sense of breathtaking heights of the area. Because people pass through this area fast and because of a lot of foliage people don't realize the almost hidden dynamic angles and views of that area. It's a hidden gem of perspectives.
